My Doctor Has a Cow Puppet is the 22nd episode of season 1. It aired on May 10, 2004.

Plot

Charlie finds Alan sleep-walking, and in that process, vacuuming poop of dust bunnies, and gets him back to bed. In the morning, Alan had no memory of sleep-walking what-so-ever.

During his second visit to his psychiatrist, Charlie tells Alan that he and Jake had pre-planned to tell her that he was seeing dead people. This irritates Alan, as he was paying the psychiatrist a lot of money. He also gets irritated when the hotel they took a take-out from didn’t include the pancakes. That night, Rose tells Charlie that Alan is sleep-walking again, this time beating eggs, and making a birthday cake.

The next day, Evelyn visits the brothers. Charlie talks to Evelyn regarding Alan’s sleep-walking. She tells him that he used to do the same when he was young, near the time Frank, their father died. His sleep-walking stopped itself when he started taking long showers (which was releasing his pressure through masturbating).

Taking a hint that Alan might need to have some sexual activities, Charlie takes him to the bar, and invites Annette and Darlene; two-prostitutes; to hook-up with Alan. Alan refuses to be with them.

Charlie then gives Alan a choice, either to take the long shower, or see Dr. Linda Freeman. Linda suggests that Alan is dealing with a great amount of suppressed rage. All ways to provoke it fails, until Charlie acts to be Judith, to which Alan finally responds by beating Charlie with a heavily padded bat. Releasing his anger, Alan feels much better, and books an appointment for the second week. Charlie also makes an appointment on the issue of his fear of vaginas.

Quotations

Scene One

Alan: Um... remember, we have Jake's "session" first.

Charlie: Oh, man, I thought you didn't want him to go back to that quack.

Alan: I didn't, but Judith and I... talked, and we decided that what I want makes no difference whatsoever.

Charlie: Man, you are so whipped!

Alan: I am not whipped! I just-- I'm just trying to keep everybody happy.

Charlie: Meow-fitchoo!

Alan: I am not "meow-fitchooed".

Charlie: You're right. It's been a long time since you got any "meow".

Jake: Are we getting a cat?

Scene Two

Jake: My doctor has a cow puppet.

Evelyn: Really. MD or Ph D.?

Jake: C-O-W.
